Noted in passing

I'll try to link the source on this later but one of the commenters on Wilner's blog noted that Baseball Prospectus reports that the Jays current (I assume going into yesterday's play) 3.52 team ERA is the lowest in the AL since 1985. Think about that before you sign the petition to fire JP.

The 2005 WS champ Chisox finished tops in the AL with a team ERA of 3.61 and had the 9th ranked offense (albeit whilst socking an assload of homeruns). Not to be a contrarian, but some people are going to look at the number you posted and see a team that could've been much, much better with a small tweak or two. Something as simple as going with Milton Bradley instead of Shannon Stewart in the offseason, or promoting Lind earlier, etc would probably have pushed them to 90-win territory.

I look at Kevin Mench and Brad Wilkerson, and I wonder how in the world ANYONE can justify JP having a job next season. Fuck the ERA!!
